Employer Description

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB), established in 1921, is the country’s central bank, responsible for maintaining price stability and fostering economic growth. It regulates monetary policy, adjusting interest rates to control inflation, and oversees financial stability by supervising banks and ensuring a secure financial system.

SARB also manages the issuance of currency, controlling the supply of the South African Rand (ZAR) and overseeing foreign exchange to stabilize the economy. Unlike most central banks, SARB has private shareholders, but its policies remain independent and accountable to Parliament.

Under the leadership of Governor Lesetja Kganyago, SARB continues to balance inflation control, financial oversight, and monetary regulation, ensuring a resilient economic future for South Africa.
